Sardines

Sardines come whole and need to be scaled and gutted, a process you can easily do at home in a few minutes. This video shows you how. After gutting, these fish just need a simple drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt. Broil or grill them with some lemon slices and fresh herbs. They take just 4-5 minutes to cook through. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.

SAFE HANDLING— Keep frozen until ready to use. Remove from packaging and defrost in the refrigerator 8-10 hours before use. Do not defrost at room temperature. Once defrosted, do not refreeze and use within 3 days.

Sardines

Popular in Spain, Portugal, Italy and beyond whole sardines are a delicious treat! Try them broiled or grilled with olive oil, salt, lemon, and herbs. With a little prep work (see note below) you'll have a meal fit for a seaside terrace along the Mediterranean.

These fish have been frozen whole straight out of the water for peak quality.

Sold in 2 lb. packs of head-on individually quick frozen (IQF) fish, approximately 7-9 fish per pack.

Because the fish are individually frozen you can remove and defrost just what you need.

Note: These sardines are not scaled or gutted to help preserve quality. Prepping them is easier than you might think. Our head fishmonger, Max Harvey, demonstrates in this video how to quickly prepare your sardines for cooking.
