The Feast of the Seven Fishes is a beloved Italian-American holiday tradition with origins rooted in early Italian immigrants longing for the flavors of home. While the exact history remains uncertain, seafood plays a symbolic role—representing both the ocean between Italy and America and the abundance of seafood found along the Italian coast. Today, the feast is celebrated by families of all backgrounds, whether they prepare all seven courses or simply enjoy a couple of seafood dishes to honor the custom.
That said, the idea of preparing seven course can be daunting! Or maybe you'd like some other dishes and proteins at your holiday table, and having seven seafood dishes seems like a lot of food. This is why we think a Seven Fishes Cocktail Party is a wonderful way to celebrate the tradition, feel fancy, while ensuring minimal preparation.
This can be great for an appetizer round for when family and friends are arriving to dinner or it's a lovely holiday party idea over some nice wine and cocktails.
Here was our idea of a Seven Fishes Cocktail Party menu but you can come up with your own creative line-up!
